2nd Annual AMVETS POST #17 Golf Scramble to Benefit AMVETS Feed A Vet will be held on Sunday, August 5th, 2018 at Woussickett Golf Course. 18 Holes of Golf. $50 per person pre-registered, $55.00 per person day of event. Registration from 8:00 am to 8:45 am. Shotgun start at 9:00 am. Scramble format of 4 players and must have at least 1 AMVET member per team. Awards for top teams & hole prizes. Lunch will be provided at the Golf Course following the Golf Scramble.

AMVETS ANNUAL PICNIC will be held on Sunday, August 19th, 2018 from Noon to 5:00 pm.  Cost Per person is $5.00. Kids 10 and under are free. Open to Members & Guest of Members.
Must show Membership Card at the Door.
Raffles, Food, Drinks, & Fun!!
Picnic Prizes are as follows:

1st Prize – 55” LED Smart HDTV
2nd Prize – Dual Gas/Charcoal Grill
3rd Prize – Liquor Wagon
Tickets are 1 for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00 - Available At Bar
Cornhole Tournament outside weather permitting.

Anyone interested in receiving the Seventeener by email can sign up at the drawing table in the Canteen or can put their email address on their membership renewal.

To Anyone that has bought a Key Card for $10.00, but can no longer use the card for any reason.  You can make arrangements with Carolyn Thomsen to return the card and get a refund on your $10.00. 

Officer’s Installation Dinner will be held on Sunday, July 29th, with cocktails at 5:00 pm and dinner @ 6:00 pm. Open to all Officer’s including Regular, Auxiliary, Son’s & Rider’s. Please sign up at drawing table if you plan to attend. 

We will be holding a weekly 50/50 drawing to be drawn on Monday Nights at 7:00 pm to off set costs of Special Events.  The tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. 

If you are planning to have a Party of 8 or more to come in for Dinner during the week, we would greatly appreciate if you would call in to make a reservation to guarantee we have adequate staffing!!! Also, Kitchen Closing hours may change if business is slow on any given night!



Sad Sak’s Chicken BBQ will be held on Sunday, July 22nd, 2018 from 12:01 pm until Sold Out, Only 101 Halves will be sold.  ½ Chicken, Homemade Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Roll, Cost is $9.01, Carryout available, all proceeds go to Nursing Scholarships Only!!!

****SON’S NEWS & EVENTS**** 

Son’s Of AMVETS & AMVETS Regulars are holding a Reverse Raffle on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 at Building #1 at the Erie County Fair Grounds.  Grand Prize is $8,000, 2nd - $1,000, 3rd - $500, 4th - $300 and 5th - $200 with the total payout being $10,000.  Doors open at 5:30 pm Sharp. Dinner served at 6:30 pm. Ticket Includes 2 Dinners, Beer and Wash Provided. Donation: $100.00 per ticket. Admission by Ticket Only. AUXILIARY FUN DAYS @ TWO CANS will be held on July 13th, 14th, & 15th.   

Auxiliary is selling Meat & Cheese Trays that can be purchased at the Bar for $4.00.

Greetings from the Commander: 

Now that we are in full swing of summer, I want to remind everyone to be sure to check the monthly schedule as there are many events being sponsored by the Post, Ladies Auxiliary, Son’s, Sad Sak’s and Riders. Please support these fine groups as they raise funds for Veterans, Scholarship’s for Nurse’s, hospital programs and many more.

The Post underwent a routine IRS audit recently to ensure we are operating in accordance with our 501c19 status. I’m happy to report we are doing just fine. Thanks Kelly for all your hard work.

I’m pleased to report that at the State Convention this past week, Post 17 received 2 awards, 1st for Most new members for 2017-2018 within District 13 and 2nd The Department Community Service Award for 2017-2108. Thank you for your support and especially all the hard work and dedication by our Officer’s. 

Congratulations to our Ladies Auxiliary for receiving 3 Awards at Convention:
Most outstanding Work in a VA Contracted Nursing Home 2017-2018.
100% Renewal Rate in Membership 2017-2018
Runner-Up for most new members for an Auxiliary with 150 or more members 2017-2018. 

Also our Son’s received an award for having the Most Attendees at Convention.
